Safety

Safety in pregnancy & those first weeks

The NHS-backed basics every mum-to-be and brand-new mum should know — from seatbelt position over your bump to safer sleep on night one.

  • Seatbelt: lap strap UNDER your bump, diagonal between your breasts and to the side.
  • No alcohol in pregnancy — the safest amount is none (UK Chief Medical Officers).
  • Call your maternity unit any hour if baby's movements change after 24 weeks.
  • Newborn safer sleep: back, firm flat mattress, no pods/nests/bumpers, room-share for 6 months.
